Krewe Membership Opens 5/1/25

Requirements

The Krewe of Europa offers various levels of membership to celebrate our ancestry from the 44 Western and Eastern European countries. Our membership process opens for recruitment on May 1st. If selected, your membership will commence on January 1st for a duration of 12 calendar months. Those who submit applications between May and early July are permitted to attend events in November and December of that same year, effectively extending your membership by two additional months. All members must be 21 years of age or older, although for parades designated as children's events, members are allowed to bring two guests under 18.

Importantly, the Krewe of Europa is dedicated to traveling to events across the US and Europe. Our travels focus on the experience of celebrating at carnivals, parades, and festivals. If you are solely interested in travel, this krewe may not be the best fit for you; however, if you are eager to experience the opportunities to showcase our style at global events and learn about diverse traditions, cultures, and histories, then we are the right choice for you.

**Diamond Passport Membership:**

Our Diamond Passport membership is open to all who meet our membership requirements in the vetting process. While most members reside locally in Florida, this is not a strict requirement. This membership grants full access to all krewe events.

Full membership includes:

- Full voting rights and participation in the krewe.

- The ability to vote or run for open elected positions.

- Participation in all non-parade events.

- Eligibility for krewe discounts on travel, costume purchases, pins, and beads.

- Option for a *Member plus one for a nominal annual fee.

**Gold Passport Regional Membership:**

The Krewe of Europa also provides Gold Passport Regional Membership for individuals not residing in Tampa or those local to Tampa seeking to join us for our traveling parades and events in Florida at a reduced dues rate and application fee. This membership is exclusively for individuals who are not part-time or year-round residents of Florida.

Membership benefits include:

- Participation in all non-Florida parades, including our annual European trip.

- Involvement in all non-parade events organized by the krewe.

- Access to discounted travel, costume purchases, pins, and beads.

- No restrictions on membership with other krewes.

**Silver Passport Membership:**

Beginning January 1st, 2026, our Silver Passports will no longer be offered. All former Silver Passport members will transition to Gold Passport members.

**Corporate Sponsor Memberships:**

This unique membership option allows companies to engage with our krewe without requiring individual memberships. Organizations can purchase one of several membership levels, which come with no voting rights and do not permit running for open elected positions. Each level provides varying degrees of participation from one to six. For more information, please visit our corporate sponsor page.

Application Steps

  • The process of membership starts with an invitation from an active member in good standing. This member will sponsor you before the application process. The sponsor will explain the required financial and time commitment needed to be successful in our krewe.

  • The second step is completing our membership application and submitting it with a non refundable $100 fee. The application will provide the Board of Directors information on the candidate which will be reviewed at the monthly Board meetings.

  • Should the Board approve the application, the candidate will meet with our membership chair for an interview. At this time, the prospective applicant will agree to an national criminal background check.

  • Once the background criminal check is complete, the prospective member will be required to attend two krewe socials to meet the other members. After this requirement is met, the krewe will vote on allowing membership.

  • If membership is granted by majority vote, the members full dues is needed before being able to participate in any krewe public event including parades. The new krewe member is on probation for the first six months of joining, after that, the member becomes a full member and has voting right established during any krewe business meetings.

FAQs

If my criminal background comes back with incorrect or negative information, am I disqualified to join?

Whereas the Krewe of Europa works with many different organizations including many children's charities, our background check is focused on any threat to the charities we help. If the derogatory information is not seen as a threat to the safety and well being of the krewe, or our partners, then this will be considered in the process. If incorrect information is returned from the background check, the application is put on hold for up to 120 days so that it can be corrected.

How long does the process take?

Our membership process is detailed to ensure both you and the krewe are a good fit. Generally it can take up to six months to become a probationary member.

How much does it cost to join the krewe?

Where we are a traveling krewe, expenses can be large. Additionally, we have an authorized costume seamstress and our attire can be costly. Your sponsor can provide this information on the initial meeting.

How many parades does the krewe do a year?

Our 2027 parade schedule is being planned now. Every year, our Board presents parades to membership for a vote on participation. Our parade numbers vary year to year. One thing to remember, we are based in Tampa, but are not a local krewe, but a traveling krewe. Our members are in many states and also in several countries.

How do I sign up?

Submit a request on our contact us page and a membership committee representative will reach out to you.

Who do I contact to get the Krewe of Europa to participate in our parade or event?
