“The world is a book, and if you don’t travel, you have read only the first page.”
The Krewe of Europa continues to be recognized for breaking new ground as the world’s first global krewe. Now, the organization is embarking on another exciting journey — bringing international carnival culture directly to television audiences through a new travel and cultural series titled Curiosity Abroad with the Krewe of Europa.
The premise of Curiosity Abroad with the Krewe of Europa follows members of the Krewe of Europa as they travel across the globe participating in major carnivals, parades, and cultural festivals. Through these experiences, viewers are introduced to the traditions, history, music, costumes, and people that make each celebration unique. More than simply documenting parades, the series highlights the importance of cultural exchange and the connections created through shared celebration.
Formed by a diverse group of professionals, the Krewe of Europa was created with a mission to bring the American parade experience to the international stage while also bringing global traditions back home to the United States. The organization’s guiding philosophy centers on unity, friendship, and the belief that celebration can help “bring our small world together.”
Founded in 2020 and based in Tampa, Florida, the Krewe of Europa has become known for its colorful presentations, elaborate costumes, and signature theme, “The Age of Discovery.” While proud of its Tampa roots and participation in iconic local traditions such as Gasparilla, the krewe has also built an international reputation through appearances in festivals and carnivals throughout Europe and beyond.
In recent years, the Krewe has participated in events across Ireland, Italy, Croatia, Germany, and other countries, while continuing to represent Tampa and the United States abroad. These international appearances have helped establish Europa as a unique cultural ambassador that connects communities through celebration and travel.
Future episodes of Curiosity Abroad are expected to feature the Krewe’s participation in major international events including the Cottbus Carnival in Germany and the Sabac Carnival in Serbia. Each episode will continue the series’ mission of exploring how parades, festivals, and carnival traditions unite people across cultures and borders.
Through travel, storytelling, and celebration, Curiosity Abroad with the Krewe of Europa aims to inspire audiences to embrace curiosity, experience new cultures, and discover that the world may be much smaller — and more connected — than we often realize.
